As I must have mentioned before breakfast is my favourite meal of the day and I love it to constantly create new breakfast ideas. Right now cherry season is in full swing and what’s better than a yummy breakfast recipe making use of cherries. Cherries contain loads of polyphenols as well as some vitamin C. One of my and Mister S.’s favourite cakes is Black forest cherry cake. Even our wedding cake was one. 🙂 Unfortunately it’s not the most healthy thing to eat and that’s fine on an occasion, but still may be not something to have for breakfast. I mean you could but that doesn’t really go along with the image of this blog. 🙂 So I thought how about a healthy Black forest smoothie bowl or rather my interpretation of it. That brings me to the idea to actually interpret the Black forest cake in a new and healthy way. Perhaps there is a new recipe coming your way in the next weeks.
This recipe here is super easy and quick to make and really keeps you full. Happy cherry time everyone!
Black forest cherry smoothie bowl
- 3 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 cup cashew milk
- 2 tsp ground vanilla
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 bananas
- 2 tbsp raw cacoa
- 300 grams cherries
- 125 grams coconut yoghurt optional
- cocoa nibs and cocoa for garnishing
Mix chia seeds with cashew milk, maple syrup and 1 tsp vanilla. Leave to expand overnight in the refrigerator.
The next day blend bananas with raw cacoa. Put some cherries aside for decorating and remove pits from the rest. Blend with remaining vanilla powder. Serve all components in a bowl and garnish with coconut yoghurt, cacoa nibs and cocoa. Enjoy!
