Time for some prophylactic measures like hot tea, lots of vitamins and this great recipe for turmeric milk. It’s very easy to make and very effective, if you feel the first cold symptoms coming on, and your energy is lacking. Along with black pepper and fresh ginger, it really warms you up from the inside and makes you feel better instantly.
In India turmeric milk has been a well-tried recipe for centuries and is always taken to treat those first cold symptoms or promote well-being in general. Turmeric has its origin in South Asia and is known for its healing properties since thousands of years. Especially for its anti-inflammatory and cancer-fighting benefits, as well as boosting the immune system. It’s related closely to the ginger plant and contains the healing compound curcumin, which is responsible for its strong golden-yellow colour. Therefore it is also used as a natural plant dye. Turmeric should always be taken with a little black pepper as its containing compound piperine, promotes the absorption in the bowel system.
Golden turmeric milk
Ingredients
- 2 cups almond milk
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 2 cm-long piece of ginger, grated
- pinch of black pepper
- sweetener per choice like rice malt syrup, honey or maple syrup
Instructions

Heat almond milk in a small pot and stir in turmeric, ginger, black pepper and sweetener. Bring to a boil and take off heat. Cover and let steep for 5 minutes. Enjoy!
